About Us

Chester Performs is a performing arts organisation, serving the West Cheshire area.

We are a creative producer of performing arts projects, leading audience development in the performing arts in and around Chester. We are a partner with the local authority and with the Arts Council in delivering these aims.

As a creative producer, we devise and stage a wide range of performing arts events and projects. The binding principle of these projects is:

• they raise artistic ambition and standards within target communities
• they offer positive art form developments in areas where that is needed
• they invest in the region by engaging as many local artists and communities as possible.

As a performing arts organisation, we are driving the development of  a new performing arts venues in Chester, including a new performing arts centre. We currently present a regular contemporary performing arts programme in a large number of non traditional venues.

All of our programmes embody the attributes of a virtual arts centre – we present innovative programming, produce our own work and commission that of others, address art form development and involve local artists and communities.

We expect that we will be able to transfer this model to a performing arts venue. For now, we present this programme in and around unusual and non traditional settings and venues. We are constantly seeking ways to extend that programme and create a reputation for excellence and endeavor for ourselves and for the city.
